“Concerning my working time and the difficulties of this project: between the drawing where I spent quite a lot of time (about 40 hours), the large number of materials I have ever had to prepare, then some that I modified because I was not satisfied with the result (with all the white shades), the feather and the gypsum that I was working on for the first time (I made different tests. Then I looked for ways to work them and make the rendering suit me best), plus the large number of pieces (470 is my record for pieces in such a small area), I spent about 200 hours in all on this watch dial. I also like the idea that the inspiration for this forest could come from any forest in the world. It's a fairly universal theme, most people like to walk in a forest, where it's a moment of relaxation and fun. The motif is my own interpretation of a forest, I like this ambiguity and the borderline between realism and abstraction.” Rose Saneuil.

The dial made was made entirely by Rose, her own design through to the final execution. The watch itself was constructed for Rose by Roland Gloor (watchmaker).

The nature of Rose’s dials makes it virtually impossible to photograph faithfully. The light catches the various aspects of the materials in different ways changing the overall aesthetic of the scene. Not only when light touches it from different angles but the dial changes in different lights and times of day.
