Blued steel hands, the most classic of hands
The hands on a watch are held in place by a friction fit resulting from being pushed onto the canon or square they sit. Very early pocket watches employed the same system as clocks and had an additional tapered pin that would be pushed into a hole drilled through the shaft the hand would sit on, locking it in place. To remove the hands they are levered off applying force onto the dial (although there are exceptions to every rule).
