The Reason

A simple and classically orientated calendar, moon-phase module.

The module 90000 can be added to virtually any commercially available mechanical calibre produced today. With central date hand, day disc at 10 o’clock and month disc at 2 o’clock, moon-phases at 6 o’clock.

Dummy hands are added to the module when adjusting the calibre for the first time.

There are manual corrector levers for all of the functions. Below is the corrector for the moon-phases wheel. The surface is straight grained. All of the correctors pivot on upright columns and are held in place with ‘C’ rings. Below there is a second column and ‘C’ ring which guides the corrector increasing its strength.

The finger piece driving the moon-phase wheel is driven by the large circular grained wheel it sits on.

With the moon-phases disc removed the manual corrector for the central date wheel can be viewed. The large steel screw shaped plug with a flat side, controls the end shake of the pawl that indexes the central date wheel.

Despite the industrial approach behind the manufacture of the module the overall finish is consistent and clean, combining straight graining and ‘perlage’ (spotting) which is hand executed. Many of the levers and springs are made from carbon steel and finished using ‘Dubois Depraz home made polissage’ a system that de-burs, hardens, anneals and polishes the pieces.

The central outer canon below, helps guide and re-enforce the four tubes on the inside carrying the date, hour, minute and seconds hands.

Summary

The module is reliable, simple to assemble and adjust. Easily integrated onto diverse mechanical calibres and follows a classical lay out for the various indications. Multiple safety features prevent the module from being damaged if the user tries to adjust the watch whilst the calendar is in the process of changing. There are multiple securities though out the calibre insuring longevity and reliability. The module is made in a consistent industrial process refined over many years.
