The Reason

The Valjoux 88 has a long lineage derivative of the Valjoux 22 and 72. It has been used by many brands and is one of the most complex versions with the additional calendar and moon phases mechanism. During its life of production from 1947 to 1974, 13,218 examples were manufactured.


A manual-wind chronograph made in the 1950’s with 60seconds, 30minute and 12hour chronograph indications, controlled by a pillar wheel with subsiduary seconds.
The day and month are set by pusher at 10h (for the day correction the pusher is pressed further). For the date hand and moon phase, set by a pusher at 8:30h (for moon phase correction push further). Diameter approximately 29.5mm. Height= 6.95mm. Normally holds 17 jewels. Frequency of balance = 18000 A/h. The power reserve is 48h.
