A glimpse of the Philippe Dufour deconstruction
Philippe Dufour is a Swiss watchmaker who established himself as an independent watchmaker in 1978 based in the Vallée de Joux. He had originally trained at the Ecole d'Horlogerie de la Vallée de Joux, in 1967 he was hired by Jaeger-LeCoultre following he joined General Watch & Co. In 1974, he worked for Gérald Genta then Audemars Piguet. From 1978, he started restoring antique watches, he then made his first movement, a grande sonnerie pocket watch.
